As an indexer, my goal is to meet the needs of your user with accurate, appropriate information products. I work quickly and accurately to your specifications, creating a new index or editing an existing index. I can provide the finished product in a variety of formats and styles. I will write a new index or edit/update an existing index. Upon request, I provide a chapter-by-chapter summary of terms indexed.

My background spans 20 years of experience at public utility companies in the telecommunications and electrical power industries. As a professional engineer, I held a variety of progressive positions within engineering, marketing, and regulatory affairs coupled with experience in project management. Indexing training was acquired from The Graduate School in 2009 when I decided to pursue a personal interest.

My subjects include:
Business, Computers, Corporate publications, Energy, Food/cookbooks, Health, Humanities, Manuals, Parenting and adoption, Politics, Popular culture, Science and math, Technology, Telecommunications, Textbooks

My specialties are:

  1. Traditional Back-of-the-book indexes
Creating indexes in MS Word or text formats, to be appended to the document.
  2. Embedded indexes for print
Creating an index whose entries are also embedded bookmarks in the Word document (so that subsequent changes to the text may be automatically reflected in the index).
  3. Hyperlinked indexes for online reading
Creating hyperlinked indexes in a Word or pdf document (so that a click on an index entry takes you directly to the corresponding section in the text).

Client comments

“The author was very happy with the index, including all the wording, and only requested to add a few more names to it (which has been done in-house). He very much appreciated the chapter by chapter breakdown — thanks again for that.”
“Both indexes look great. Thanks so much!”
“Deadline met - before schedule w/quick turnaround.”
“You can definitely list us as a reference.”
“In particular, [the book] required special attention to French and English place names, new and old place names, and names of main characters. Linda managed to include all these terms in an easily searchable manner while keeping the index to the specified length.”
